Leaving The World

‘Leaving the World’

artworks by Sian Lile and Paul Battenbough

‘Leaving the World’ brings together two artists who work in print. Sian Lile who uses etching and installation and Paul Battenbough who works primarily with relief processes. Neither makes edition prints, they prefer to produce unique, one-off pieces. Together they bring a contrasting and refreshing approach to the modern day print, dispelling the opinion that somehow prints are inferior to other methods of expression.

Sian Lile: - ‘ my recent work is about mapping, travel, migration, and the meaning of home. A three-month residency in Canada funded by Wales Arts International has been the starting point for the prints in this exhibition.’

Paul Batts

Paul Battenbough: - ‘as a musician I have long resisted going down the route of making works of art about musicians. Despite this, my recent prints display a fascination with the legendary, iconic status of music idols (especially dead country music ones). I’m attracted by the blend of southern gothic and religion, oh and the rhinestone suits.
